Halliburton Targeted By Area Peace Activists

Halliburton now hiring at high-security Woodland facility; activists announce protest Sunday at War Profiteer'

WOODLAND Controversial War Profiteer Halliburton which has announced its hiring here has been targeted by peace advocates for a regional protest at the corporation's mysterious, high-security facility SUNDAY, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m. at 1990 Hays Lane (off County Road 102 and I-5).

Activists including Iraq and other veterans from Sacramento and Davis-Yolo are expected to participate in the demonstration, the second protest in a month.

Halliburton is the first company in a new campaign to target corporations who have become wealthy war profiteers, while nearly 4,000 Americans have been killed n Iraq, according to the Sacramento Coalition to End the War, which earlier this year staged a 52-day sit-in a Rep. Doris Matsui's office.

"Corporate war-profiteers line their pockets from the manufacture, sale and support of killing machines. Our troops and Iraqi citizens die and Halliburton continues to rake in huge profits. We don't need corrupt war-profiteers in our cities, or our state," said Debra Reiger, a spokesperson for the Sacramento Coalition to End the War.

Halliburton (www.HalliburtonWatch.org) has been the subject of numerous high-profile audits which have shown the company has overcharged U.S. taxpayers millions perhaps billions of dollars.
