McGuire Air Force Base, the Nation's Largest, to Install the Revolutionary Acadia Into All Base Housing in an Effort to Reduce Carbon Footprint and Lower Energy Bills

Military members living at McGuire Air Force Base will be fitted with the new Acadia(TM): combined heating and cooling system. Approximately 2,000 homes will have Acadia systems installed in an effort to be more energy efficient, environmentally conscious, and reduce operating and ownership costs of the homes for the residents. The Acadia Systems will reduce overall energy consumption and reduce heating and cooling costs for residents by more than 20% annually, while increasing the overall comfort of the homes for the residents.

The Acadia will be installed by United Communities, LLC. United Communities is the owner of the Military Housing Privatization Project at Fort Dix/ McGuire. The Military Privatization Act is a national program that allows private developers, through competitive offers, to redevelop and operate military housing for a 50-year term. This system is improving the standard of living for members of the military and affording comfortable modern homes for them and their families. United Communities has selected the Acadia to improve quality of life for its residents while saving them money on heating and cooling.

"When we took on this project we wanted to create a comprehensive housing program that encompassed green initiatives, with a focus on utility conservation. The Acadia fit perfectly into this model," said Jack Gafford, Director of Development for United Communities LLC. "We are not only creating a comfortable environment for these military families, but we are taking an active role in helping the environment by reducing our energy consumption."

How does it work? A single system engineered to comfortably and efficiently heat and cool homes no matter what the weather outside, the Acadia is both economical and environmentally friendly. As a patented, next generation heat pump, the engineers at Hallowell International innovated their patented Opti-Cycle(TM) booster that enables the Acadia to run efficiently in temperatures as cold as -30 degrees Fahrenheit.

"McGuire Air Force Base is a big step for Hallowell International and the Acadia. Our company has worked diligently to educate consumers about the benefits of the Acadia and we finally feel the process is working," said Duane A. Hallowell, President and CEO of Hallowell International. "We are passionate about what we do and want to continue to develop technologies that will aid in protecting our planet and are within reach to consumers."
