GUC Joins Power Forward Initiative

GUC to Leverage CPF-Based Low Power Solutions to Accelerate Development of Consumer Products

Global Unichip Corp. (GUC; TW:3443), a dedicated full service SoC (System-On-Chip) Design Foundry, and the Power Forward Initiative (PFI) today announced that GUC has joined the Initiative and will be offering Common Power Format (CPF)-enabled low-power flow for their design service customers. With the addition of GUC, the PFI continues to increase its momentum and now has 24 members.

GUC uses the Cadence® Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS) Low-Power Solution which is designed to increase productivity, manage design complexity, and shorten time to market.

CPF is an Si2-approved standard format for specifying power-saving techniques early in the design process -- enabling sharing and reuse of low-power intelligence throughout the design process. The Cadence Low-Power Solution is the industry's first complete flow that integrates logic design, verification, and implementation with the Si2-standard Common Power Format.

The Power Forward Initiative, which has more than 20 member companies, is an industry initiative sponsored by Cadence and has the goal of enabling the design and production of more power-efficient electronic devices.
