Cobra Starship Announces "The Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour"; First Headline Trek in Support of "VIVA LA COBRA!"

Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording group
Cobra Starship has unveiled details of their upcoming North American tour.
The eagerly anticipated itinerary celebrates the dance-punk sensations'
recently released second album, "VIVA LA COBRA!"
Dubbed "The Really Really Ridiculously Good Looking Tour" (a nod to
"Zoolander," the band's favorite film about male models), the trek will
kick off on January 16th at Poughkeepsie, New York's The Chance, and then
traverse the continent through mid-March (see attached itinerary). The
tour will see Cobra Starship topping a multi-act bill that also includes
Metro Station, We The Kings and fellow Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording
group The Cab.
"VIVA LA COBRA!" -- which follows the band's 2006 debut, "WHILE THE CITY
SLEEPS, WE RULE THE STREETS" -- was recorded earlier this year in Brooklyn
with Fall Out Boy's Patrick Stump producing. The album's first single,
"The City Is At War," will impact radio nationwide in January, with a
companion video clip also set to premiere in early 2008. In addition,
Cobra Starship will be the subject of a January installment of MTV's 52
Bands, a special feature segment that highlights one new band per week
throughout the year.
Largely written on tour during the sold-out 2007 Honda Civic Tour with Fall
Out Boy, "VIVA LA COBRA!" has drawn acclaim for its idiosyncratic blending
of eclectic party anthems and witty cultural critique. Blender awarded the
album three-and-a-half stars, hailing it as "blue-eyed soul with a wink and
a dose of manic energy." Entertainment Weekly noted that the album
"improves on 2006's 'WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS...,' with catchier hooks and
harder-rocking beats," while Penthouse praised Saporta for his chronicles
of "downtown life in a mashed-up universe: '80s synths, guest raps,
thundering party rock, and Spanish trash talk somehow make sense after a
spin in (Saporta's) cultural blender."
Emerging in the summer of 2006, Cobra Starship was immediately lauded as an
exciting new outfit. The band's first effort, "WHILE THE CITY SLEEPS, WE
RULE THE STREETS," proved the point upon its October 2006 release, making a
spectacular chart debut by entering in the #1 spot on SoundScan's "Top New
Artists" chart. "It cannot be denied that Saporta can craft one hell of a
hook," declared Alternative Press. "Every single one of (the album's)
swaggering 11 tracks is immediately likeable." Newsday awarded the
collection an "A-," noting that "strong hooks... let Cobra Starship surpass
new-new-wave bands like The Bravery and The Rapture at warp speed."
Cobra Starship -- which is currently wrapping up the "Sleeping With Giants
Tour" alongside fellow Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording group The
Academy Is... -- has been on the road non-stop with such bands as 30
Seconds To Mars, Boys Like Girls, Panic! At The Disco, Gym Class Heroes,
The Academy Is..., and Cartel since playing their first show just over a
year ago. This eagerly anticipated tour is the band's first headlining
jaunt.
