Bob Cudmore Interviews Shelley Chawla, Screenwriter of Hope
A tragic crime challenges a Senator's stance against embryonic stem cell research - A controversial film
AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (EWORLDWIRE) Nov 21, 2007
Bob Cudmore, the Valley's talk leader, had an interesting discussion with screenwriter Shelley Chawla, Md., earlier today on the Bob Cudmore show on WVTL 1570 AM in Amsterdam, New York. In the few short months since it became available for purchase, the novel, Hope in Vitro, has been a well-received, popular choice that challenges preconceived ideas about stem cells. Soon, movie lovers will get an opportunity to see this movie, "HOPE."
The screenplay has been written by Shelley Chawla, Chris Ryan and Dianne Wilson.
"Is this controversy worldwide?" asked Bob Cudmore.
"The developing countries are still trying to solve problems of malnutrition, starvation, infrastructure, infectious diseases and they have not had time to dwell on the controversy as to when live begins," stated Chawla. "It's more of a political controversy in our country here and should not be tied into the abortion debate since this occurs so early in the process."
The shooting in India-New Delhi and USA- Kansas City has been completed, according to movie production officials. The movie is now in Post Production
"Seeing my written work translated into film has been a great experience," says Co-author Shelley Chawla. "I am a newcomer to movie production and have enjoyed the process of bringing the ideas in my book into the movie arena.a
The movie draws readers into the life of a Senator's family that is faced with a tragedy. Family members must challenge their choices and views, ultimately determining whether they can survive the storm together.
Chawla and movie director Rich Ambler are excited to incorporate the emotions that make Hope ... in Vitro so powerful, into a movie that will affect viewers as strongly as the book has. They have been buoyed by the support they have received.
When Chawla isn't penning screenplays, he is a neurologist, and much of his support has come from the medical community. When several of his doctor friends and co-workers read Hope ... in Vitro, they became passionate about seeing that the movie was made, Chawla said. Now, these doctors have worked together to bring this project to fruition.
"Of course it's been exciting to see my book made into a movie," Chawla said. "But even more than that has been seeing the way the subject matter has touched people."
