Landmark Documentary "Zeitgeist" to Premiere at the 4th Annual Artivist Film Festival and Artivist Awards November 10th, 2007
In its first major release, a re-mastered
version of the documentary "Zeitgeist" will premiere at the 4th Annual
Artivist Film Festival in Los Angeles. The film will screen on November
10th, 2007 at 9:15 p.m. in the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
A panel Q & A with the creator, Peter Joseph, and various scholars will
follow the screening.
With more than a million views on the internet, "Zeitgeist" has emerged as
one of the most talked about documentaries of the year. Now this sweeping
social exposé will be presented in a large-scale public showing for the
first time.
Exhaustively researched and critically charged, "Zeigeist" debunks social
fallacies surrounding religion, finance, politics, and "the myths" of 9/11.
The film dares people to realize that all too often things are not as they
appear. Ultimately "Zeitgeist" is a provocation to action, inspiring its
audience to think more deeply, challenge more forcefully, and love more
bravely.
The 4th Annual Artivist Film Festival pays tribute to filmmakers from
around the world showcasing some 60 documentary films from 25 countries,
recognizing their work in Social Consciousness, Human Rights, Environmental
Preservation, Animal Welfare and Child Advocacy.
The Artivist festival will also honor celebrity activists Ted Danson,
Alyssa Milano and Claes Nobel on November 11th at the awards gala that will
be held on the last night of the festival. Previous Artivist Awards have
gone to luminaries such as Daryl Hannah, Matthew McConaughey, Joaquin
Phoenix, Mira Sorvino, Ed Begley, Jr., James Cromwell, Tippi Hedren and
Mike Farrell.
The film festival, which will begin on November 8th, 2007, will once again
take place at the famed Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Over the course of
the 4-day event, filmmakers from around the world will compete in various
categories of film or video including narrative, documentary and short
film. The festival's mission is to strengthen the voice of international
activist artists, referring to them as "Artivists," while raising public
awareness for social and global causes.
Artivist Film Festival 2007 follows three highly successful years of
previous festivals, having set the stage for great audience attendance and
media coverage. The event producers are expecting packed seats for most if
not all of the highly anticipated 60 films. Highlights from previous years
included screenings of such notable films as "Fast Food Nation," "Super
Size Me," "The Corporation" and "Born into Brothels."
The Artivist Film Festival is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to
creating a platform for socially conscious "Artivists" to share their
inspirational and informative films with the world.
