IHOP Chairman and CEO, Julia A. Stewart, Receives the Chain Leadership Award
Annual Award Recognizes Executives Within Restaurant Industry

IHOP (NYSE: IHP), one of America's favorite
restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner, today announced that its
Chairman and CEO, Julia A. Stewart, has received the 2007 Chain Leadership
Award. The Chain Leadership Award is presented as part of Chain Leader
magazine's Execution Awards, which are awarded annually to honor leaders in
the chain restaurant industry. Stewart was acknowledged at a ceremony
during Chain Leader LIVE, a conference for restaurant executives that was
held Oct. 24-27 in Newport Beach, Calif.
The Chain Leadership Award recognizes the individual who currently has the
greatest influence on his or her company and the industry through company
leadership, financial results and industry participation.
"Julia has a successful track record of leadership, and in the last year
has demonstrated an enhanced level of industry influence," said Mary Boltz
Chapman, Editor-in-Chief of Chain Leader. "Under her leadership, IHOP has
achieved 19 consecutive quarters of same-store sales increases, and when
IHOP's announced acquisition of Applebee's closes, Julia will lead the
largest full-service restaurant company in the world."
"I am honored to receive this award, as it recognizes the hard work of the
IHOP employees and franchisees that have made IHOP successful. These
efforts have positioned IHOP as a leader in not only the family dining
category, but the restaurant industry at large," said Julia Stewart,
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of IHOP.
The Chain Leader Execution Awards are awarded annually to honor leaders in
the chain restaurant industry and represent a "past, present and future"
tribute to three industry leaders, recognizing excellence in execution at
different career stages: Legend, Chain Leadership and Protégé. The Chain
Leadership and Legend awards are selected by Chain Leader's Cover Society,
which is made up of the foodservice executives who have appeared on the
cover since its debut in August 1996.
Additional 2007 award winners include Truett Cathy, Founder and Chairman of
Chick-fil-A, who received the Legend Award, and Clay Dover, Executive Vice
President and Chief Concept Officer for Metromedia Restaurant Group, who
was honored with the Protégé Award.
