The Handsome, Sometimes Shy Artist-Turned-Activist Shares Some Insight on Living Life With Purpose, Passion -- and Why He's More Than Just Another Pretty Face!
James Haven opens up to Marie Claire's
Lauren Iannotti about his latest passion: the Artivist Film Festival.
The dashingly handsome older brother of Angelina Jolie: James Haven is
making his own mark on the world by supporting filmmakers and activists
with a global conscious vision.
In his most recent interview, James talks about focusing in on making a
difference by using his celebrity status to help others. He talks candidly
about his famous sibling "being the catalyst" for his decision to get
started in philanthropy. He also speaks openly about growing up in an
abusive household and how that shaped his feelings toward abandoned women
and children.
James is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Artivist
organization, helping to raise awareness and he is set to help kick-off the
Artivist Film Festival on November 8th 2007.
The 4th Annual Artivist Film Festival pays tribute to filmmakers from
around the world showcasing some 60 documentary films from 25 countries,
recognizing their work in Social Consciousness, Human Rights, Environmental
Preservation, Animal Welfare and Child Advocacy.
Among the 2007 celebrity honorees: Ted Danson, Alyssa Milano and Claes
Nobel. The film festival, which will begin on November 8, 2007, will take
place at the famed Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood. Over the course of the
4-day event, filmmakers from around the world will compete in various
categories of film or video including narrative, documentary and short
film. The festival's mission is to strengthen the voice of international
activist artists, referring to them as "Artivist," while raising public
awareness for social and global causes.
The Artivist Film Festival is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to
creating a platform for socially conscious "Artivists," helping to share
their inspirational and informative films with the world.
