Warid Telecom and Huawei Leverage BroadSoft VoIP Platform to Offer IMS Over WiMAX
BroadWorks Enables Advanced VoIP Services in Uganda

BROADSOFT CONNECTIONS 2007 -- BroadSoft, Inc.,
a leading provider of VoIP application software, today announced that Warid
Group, a fast-growing mobile service provider in South Asia and Africa, has
selected BroadSoft's BroadWorks® VoIP application software as a key part of its new VoIP and
IP-based multimedia services. The BroadWorks platform will enable Warid
Telecom to deliver advanced VoIP services to enterprise and residential
customers throughout Uganda over an IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) core
network being constructed by BroadSoft partner Huawei Technologies
("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications
network solutions for operators around the world.
Warid will use the IMS-based system to offer a range of new services,
including Hosted PBX, multimedia communications, prepaid and
fixed-mobile convergence (FMC) services. Warid becomes one of the first
service providers globally to offer IMS over WiMAX, providing customers
with wireless access to data and voice services. Huawei, a leading provider
of next-generation telecommunications network solutions for operators
around the world, is constructing the core IMS network and integrating it
with Warid's WiMAX access network. Huawei has
integrated BroadSoft's BroadWorks platform into its IMS solutions for
telecom operators.
"Our goal is to offer our customers innovative services that bring the most
value for the least cost," said Bashir Tahir, CEO of Warid. "There is no
better way to do that than to work with the best in VoIP technology and
network deployment -- BroadSoft and Huawei. The BroadWorks-based services
will enable Warid to attract new subscribers and to strengthen our
competitive edge without the need to invest in additional infrastructure."
Huawei will also provide GSM network components, wireless base stations, a
value-added service platform, long-distance/international gateway offices
and the IP bearer network.
"We welcome the opportunity to partner with agile and sophisticated
operators like Warid that are bringing the benefits of VoIP and FMC to new
markets," said Ding Yun, vice president of Huawei. "The BroadWorks
platform, coupled with our total commitment to customer partnership,
assures Warid of a future-proof network."
"With the launch of its new service, Warid is offering cost-effective,
IP-enabled applications that will help customers in Uganda gain the
benefits of VoIP as well as voice and data convergence," said Scott
Wharton, vice president of Marketing for BroadSoft. "By expanding its
technology offerings, Warid is well-positioned to grow its markets and
create new revenue streams."
