Cisco Delivers Mobile Government Solution to Help Ensure Secure, Reliable Services for State and Local Governments

New Model Will Enable Flexibility, Collaboration and Productivity for Public Safety and Municipal Employees

Cisco® (NASDAQ: CSCO) today unveiled its Cisco Mobile Government solution, including partners and an integrated suite of products and applications, here at the International Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference. The Mobile Government solution provides state and local governments with the tools to craft an overall strategy for implementing and benefiting from mobile technologies. The suite of products and applications helps enable more efficient and effective decision making for public safety and mobile workers through the use of collaborative wireless mobility technologies.

The Cisco Mobile Government solution includes the following new products, applications and partner contributions:

--  Mobile Networking: Enhancements to the Cisco 3200 Series Wireless and
    Mobile Routers, which include integrated video security, a 5 GHz card for
    radio interoperability, incorporation of Cisco Unified Communications
    Manager Express and high-speed roaming capabilities.
--  Enhanced Interoperability: New, maximized 4.9 GHz radio
    interoperability between the Cisco 3200 Series Wireless and Mobile Routers
    and the new Cisco 1520 Series wireless broadband platform to support public
    safety and response initiatives.
--  Collaborative Applications: In collaboration with 3I Infotech and APS
    for public safety applications, and Accela, MobileFrame and Syclo for
    mobile worker and inspection applications, Cisco is offering numerous
    industry solutions that can be delivered across this mobile government
    network  Value-added applications include those for law enforcement
    investigations, hazardous materials tracking, emergency dispatch, fire and
    safety inspections, facility management, electronic traffic citations,
    building inspection, permitting, environmental code enforcement, and sewer
    repair and maintenance. These applications have been optimized to run on
    the mobility platform of Cisco technology developer Intermec, the leader in
    rugged handheld mobile technology, and on Panasonic ToughBooks, the
    industry's most rugged computers.

The city of Bowling Green, Ky., is capitalizing on the benefits of Cisco wireless and mobile technologies at a time when they are growing within public sector circles due to increasing citizen demands. Within the public safety sector, the greatest need for information is often in a mobile environment where decisions must increasingly be made in the field instead of an office.

Cisco is announcing this solution at a time when growing demands on state and local governments are driving an equally dynamic growth in public sector mobility. The 2006 Municipal Wireless State of the Market Report states that public sector mobility is growing approximately 100 percent yearly. Global spending in the municipal market is projected to grow from $802 million in 2005 to $8.6 billion in 2010. The same report also notes that "networks are becoming more multifunctional, designed to achieve more goals and act as vessels for more transformative applications" with a strong emphasis on public safety, code enforcement, and public works.
