On Thursday, October 18th, the Hire A Hero program is expecting to bring over 200 people together for a very special military networking event. Members of the local military community will be provided with the opportunity to network and meet face to face with other San Diego residents who want to help them in their transition back into their civilian lives. At this event, there will be speed networking sessions, free entertainment by REO SpeedWagon guitarist and free food and drinks. Attendees can also visit the Hire A Hero video booth to record free video resumes to place on their Hire A Hero online profiles. Anyone who is interested in supporting their hometown heroes is invited to attend.
Hire A Hero is a non-profit web-based military community with a mission to help its members network in order to find quality training and career opportunities. The program is open to every American who wants to take action and give back to those who have served. Hire A Hero seeks volunteers who can work in a variety of roles from their hometowns across the country and the program is in need of donations and corporate sponsors to help keep it free for everyone to use. A recent internal survey revealed that jobseekers who networked with more than six other users on hireahero.org had a success rate of more than 30 percent.
