Leading Retailer of Comfort Footwear Expands National Footprint in Indiana, Michigan, Texas, Arizona, Ohio and Florida

The Walking Company, the world's largest specialty retailer of comfort footwear, announces plans to open six new locations during October 2007. Following six store openings in September, the company plans to open more than 20 new locations in the final three months of 2007, making it one of the fastest growing retailers in the United States.

The Walking Company's new locations will open in Evansville, Ind.; Clinton Township, Mich.; Highland Village, Texas; Gilbert, Ariz.; Strongsville, Ohio; and Jacksonville, Fla.

Each new store location will feature the latest styles and designs from more than 40 premium comfort footwear brands including ECCO, Mephisto, UGG and Dansko. The Walking Company also offers a wide selection of comfort footwear from hard-to-find international brands such as Pikolinos and BeautiFeel. Each store has a comprehensive selection for every end use, from dress shoes and business casual footwear to sandals, clogs, boots and active performance shoes.

"Our rapid expansion is evidence our retail concept resonates with consumers," said Lee Cox, senior vice president of retail at The Walking Company. "We look to continue this growth trend in order to meet the increasing demand for quality comfort footwear across the country."

All of the footwear sold at The Walking Company stores comes with the company's promise of authentic comfort, which guarantees every product is made with the highest quality materials and unsurpassed craftsmanship to provide optimal comfort.

In addition to a wide selection of comfort footwear, The Walking Company offers a variety of comfort-related accessories. The new stores will also feature the Aetrex orthotic system and digital foot scanning technology. Customers who come into the store can have their feet scanned to identify their foot type and pressure points, and determine the appropriate Aetrex orthotics for their feet. Orthotics, once used as a remedy for foot conditions, are widely used by people to increase comfort and improve footwear performance.
