Four Militants Arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 4: Indian army and police today claimed to have arrested four militants during different raids and operations in violence-hit Kashmir.

An Indian army spokesman in Srinagar, Col A K Mathur said that Indian army personnel launched a specific search operation in South Kashmir district of Pulwama. He claimed that during the operation, two militants belonging to Pakistan based militant group, Albadar, were killed. Without identifying the arrested militants, the spokesman claimed that three hand grenades and 0.5 Kgs of explosive material was recovered from their possession. He said that after preliminary investigation, they were handed over to local police for further questioning.

The spokesman further said that army personnel during a search operation in North Kashmir arrested an active militant of pro-Pakistan militant group, Hizbul Mujahideen. Identifying the arrested militant as Muzaib Ahmed Lone, the army spokesman claimed an AK rifle, 01 Pistol, 01 Under Barrel Grenade Launcher, 25 Under Barrel Grenade Launcher rounds, 3 radio sets and other ammunition was recovered from his possession.

Meanwhile, a police spokesman told News Blaze in Srinagar that an absconding militant, who was wanted in several militancy related incidents, was arrested by police personnel during a search operation from South Kashmir. He identified the arrested militant as Shamim Ahmad Sofi.
