McGuinty's Desperate Deflections Have Parents Seeing Red

TORONTO, ONTARIO - (Marketwire - Sept. 17, 2007) - When it comes to education funding, Dalton McGuinty is desperate to deflect attention from the real issues and the real problems facing Ontario schools. Parents across Ontario are catching on and they're seeing red.

Before the last election, McGuinty promised to fix education funding and stop forcing parents to fundraise for classroom essentials:

"We have a crisis in our schools. We have a loss of confidence in the minds of our parents. We have parents and children out there fundraising for textbooks... We have a plan to save public education by improving public education." Dalton McGuinty, Ontario Legislature, May 15, 2001.

At the same time he said he was open to funding for faith-based schools:

"It is my hope, Arend, that at some time in the future, we'll be able to address this fact that we're already funding one denomination school system in Ontario." - Dalton McGuinty, Ancaster News, 27 March 2002.

Four years later his "number one priority" isn't keeping his promise to parents - it's opposing a proposal he used to support. Hardworking Ontario families are tired of his hypocritical posturing on education while they fundraise to make up for McGuinty's classroom cuts.

Howard Hampton and Ontario's NDP will ensure all kids get the education they deserve.
