Megola Announces AF21 Test Results
Class A Rating From ASTM E-84 Surface Burning Test
Megola Inc. (PINKSHEETS: MGOA) is pleased to
announce the results of a recent test conducted in accordance with ASTM
E-84-07, Standard Test Method for Surface Burning Characteristics of
Building Materials, at SGS U.S. Testing Co. in Fairfield, New Jersey. The
AF21-treated sample specimen received a Flame Spread rating of 20 and a
Smoke Developed value of 50, which meets the parameters for the Class A
Interior Wall and Ceiling Finish Category.
"We are very pleased with the results of this test. While our own testing
made us confident that AF21-treated lumber would receive a Class A rating,
it was exciting to see that both the flame spread and smoke development
ratings were quite minimal considering that the submitted wood sample was
treated using only a simple spray method of application. Even though Class
A is the highest achievable category, we feel that further testing on a
sample treated with a penetration assisting binding agent, or by utilizing
a vacuum pressure method, will result in even lower flame spread and smoke
development ratings, which could make AF21 even more attractive to the
building industry. Also, we have already submitted and have plans for
submitting other AF21-treated materials, such as fabrics and textiles, for
similar burn tests," states Michael Gardner, Environmental Scientist at

About the ASTM E-84 Test
The purpose of this test is to determine the relative burning behavior of
the material by observing the flame spread along the test specimen and the
smoke developed during the fire exposure. A flame spread and smoke
development index are reported after a 10 minute fire exposure. Inorganic
cement board and unfinished red oak flooring are used as comparative
standards, assigned arbitrary values of 0 and 100, respectively. The
results dictate whether a material meets the parameters for the Class A, B
or C Interior Wall and Ceiling Finish Category. Class A materials must
have a flame spread between 0-25, Class B: 26-75, and Class C: 76-200.
Smoke development must be between 0-450 for all classes.
AF21 Treatment
Douglas Fir was used as the test material for the ASTM E-84 test. This
type of lumber is very common in the building industry and has similar
characteristics to other common wood varieties. Hartindo AF21 was sprayed
on the surface of the wood before being subjected to the test conditions.
No vacuum pressure or binding agent was used to assist in the penetration
of AF21 into the wood, which illustrates the tremendous fire inhibiting
ability of the product, as well as the ease of application. The amount of
AF21 used was within the range recommended by the manufacturers.

non-corrosive fire inhibitor. As opposed to the numerous, and often times
toxic fire retardants on the market that simply delay the spread of fire,
AF21 renders materials non-flammable, thereby preventing the spread of
