Xtreme Energy Makeover Debuts in Southern California
Project Promises Huge Savings to Lucky Homeowners

San Diego is abuzz with talk of the latest
and most advanced home energy retrofit project to hit the scene. Xtreme
Energy Makeover is made possible through a partnership between project
management firm Richard Heath & Associates (RHA) and SDG&E, a Sempra Energy
utility. Homeowners Ken and Marie Huff in San Diego, California were
selected to receive this groundbreaking renovation.
Unlike many new construction projects, Xtreme Energy Makeover takes an
existing home and transforms it into a modern example of extreme energy
efficiency.
"We are thrilled to be the first Xtreme Energy Makeover recipients," said
Ken Huff. "We can't wait to watch our family home change before our eyes
and to get our first bill after the project is completed."
"The San Diego market is perfect to showcase this exciting project," said
Tom Barrett, vice president at RHA. "With so many homes in Southern
California built during an era that did not consider energy efficiency a
key factor, today's consumer needs the best energy renovation options and
Xtreme Energy Makeover delivers."
The Xtreme Energy Makeover Project is a demonstration project designed to
develop and provide cost-effective energy saving renovation information to
contractors, builders, and homeowners seeking to reduce energy usage in
older, single-family homes built before the State of California's energy
code (Title 24) took effect. The project will demonstrate energy saving
techniques and energy efficient equipment to educate ratepayers in San
Diego Gas & Electric Company's service territory, thereby creating energy
reductions through cost-effective energy renovations, targeting energy
consuming appliances, lighting, heating, air conditioning, and structural
components.
