Viagra of the Mind - When Your Brain Needs a Boner

We live in a Nation full of choices, we choose where to go, what to do and how to do it. But when it comes to erectile and sexual dysfunction, the choices have been few and far between.

However, now as we enter into the 21st century people are beginning to put their little bottle of blue pills back into their medicine cabinets and turning to alternative therapists such as acupuncturists, herbalists, yoga instructors and tantra therapists.

All of these types of therapies are different but they have one thing in common, the recognition that a person's mental state can be directly related to sexual dysfunctions.

Of the four types of therapies, Tantra has become the most popular. Tantra is a mystical subject, and as a result, it is almost impossible to define. Even eminent scholars have had a hard time explaining what Tantra really is. In a nutshell, Tantra is a spiritual science.

People with sexual dysfunctions who embrace Tantra say they become more real and feel more complete. They recognize and stimulate their inherent sensual spirituality. They are able to discover parts of themselves that has remained asleep or has been repressed. With Tantra, energy is released that is evolutionary and upwardly motivating.

New York Tantric practitioner, Carla Tara says, "We can learn to use this energy for pleasure, for achieving our worldly goals and for adding to a more healthy relationship without the use of prescription drugs."

Often men experience difficulty obtaining or maintaining an erection sufficient for penetration. Sometimes there is an organic basis for this dysfunction; a urologist should be consulted prior to contacting a Tantric therapist.

A classic case where a person may seek the help of a Tantric therapist would be in the event of perpetual orgasmic disorder. The primary definition is that the person has never had an orgasm, rare in woman and not so rare in men. Cases such as this could stem from emotional or sexual trauma, medications, pelvic nerve damage, as well as clitoridectomy.

Some problems with sexual dysfunction are normal. For example, women starting a new or first relationship may feel sore or bruised after intercourse and find that an over-the-counter herbal supplement along with Tantric therapy can help to make sex more pleasurable.

As a spiritual science, Tantra is continuously being studied but is no substitute for proven medical science. Anyone experiencing prolonged sexual dysfunctions should consult their family practitioner before seeking any type of alternative therapy.
