Militants attacked an armed group of persons, who are assisting Indian army in anti-militancy operations in Kashmir. The militants managed to snatch two rifles and ammunition from the armed persons.
Police sources said that a group of militants barged into the houses of two Village Defence Committee (VDC) members - armed men assisting Indian soldiers in anti-military operations - in Kathua district of the restive state of Jammu and Kashmir last night.
The militants forced their entry into the houses of VDC members - Lacho son of Faqir Din and Ishu Din son of Shukar Din and managed to over power them. Before fleeing from the spot, the militants decamped with two rifles and some ammunition. The VDC members were not harmed by the militants and set free.
Immediately after the militant attack, Indian police, para-military and army personnel laid siege around the area to flush out the militants responsible for the attack. No arrests were reported.
