By Fayaz Wani
Unknown persons in North Kashmir attacked the house of a close associate of hardline separatist leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani. No loss of life or injury was reported in the attack.
Police said that unknown persons hurled a hand grenade at the house of separatist leader Farooq Ahmad Bhat alias Tawheedi at Tawheedbagh, Sopore in North Kashmir during the preceding night. Farooq is a close associate of Syed Ali Shah Geelani and his group, Muslim League is one of the constituents of the separatist conglomerate, (Huriyat G) headed by Geelani.
The grenade, according to police, fell short of the target and exploded with a big bang, causing panic among the people in the area. The glass panes of some of the houses were broken by the impact of the blast. However, no loss of life or injuries was reported.
The separatist leader was not in the house when the grenade attack took place.
Meanwhile, hardline separatist amalgam, Huriyat (G) has strongly condemned the grenade attack on the house of one of its leaders.
Terming the attack as the handiwork of Indian security agencies, a Huriyat (G) spokesperson said that they will not be cowed down by such attacks and would continue their struggle until the people of Jammu and Kashmir are granted the right to self-determination, to determine their own fate.
