Crossfire War - Syria Calls on Its Citizens to Leave Lebanon

By Willard Payne

Crossfire War - DAMASCUS - TEHRAN - RIYADH WATCH - West Asia Theatre: Damascus - Tehran - Riyadh - Amman - Nahr al-Bared - Ein al-Hilweh/Marjayoun - Sidon - Tripoli - Beirut - Paris - Rome - Cairo - Washington - Jerusalem; US Secretary of Defense Gates Cancels Trip to S. America - Syria Calls on Its Citizens and Students to Leave Lebanon Before Heavy Fighting Next Week

Night Watch: MARJAYOUN - Debka is reporting Damascus is calling on its citizens and students to leave Lebanon before major fighting begins next week which could and will spread all over the country. The Islamic Axis of Iran-Syria will be directing the war not only to remove Prime Minister Fouad Siniora but to also attack the European units in UNIFIL, which support him. Not only will militant groups like Hezbollah be sent into action but new units just created, Fatah al-Islam being an example, the suicide unit that began the war in Lebanon May 20 at the Palestinian refugee camp city Nahr al-Bared near Syria's border. Another new unit is Jund al-Sham based at the largest refugee camp Ein al-Hilweh near Sidon south of Beirut. Through their agents and contacts, Tehran-Damascus can easily create units like that in any of the twelve Palestinian camp-cities all over Lebanon and they probably have. [DEBKA]

The linked article is also reporting U. S. Defence Secretary Robert M. Gates was forced to cancel a trip to South America due to the emergency situation throughout West Asia (Middle East). It is an alarming situation to Washington and European governments since it has finally dawned on them Tehran was never interested in any peaceful resolution to its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs, nor was Iran ever interested in waging a major war with Israel, since Israel is by no means the rival for international dominance and regional influence the West is. That is why Tehran really noticed and monitored the Rome Conference last year and the arrival of European units in south Lebanon afterward. Tehran knew it meant Rome was back and leading the West again into the region something Tehran did not want to see, so Iran had al-Qaeda declare them an enemy of Islam. That is why Rome's role in World War III is very similar to London's role in World War II. Rome is replacing Brussels and not only during the war but in the post-World War III world because the area of concentration for the West is no longer the North Atlantic but the Mediterranean.

Unfortunately, UNIFIL is an easy target because they made no effort to prevent or intercept Hezbollah's obvious re-arming by Syria-Iran. UNIFIL even gave the impression, common among Western governments, that Israel is more of a problem than Iran and Islamic radicalism. That is an extremely unrealistic and suspicious interpretation, which is actually quite laughable and entertaining. Tehran realizes the West's devotion to that kind of thinking so Iran encourages it by occasionally denouncing Israel, but in the mean time plans its main operations and offensives against the West. Tehran-Amman-Riyadh-Damascus are also aware the West's ridiculous policies are completely alienating the West from Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak, one of the last Islamic heads of state still trying to cooperate with the West militarily. Mubarak is by no means blaming Israel for this regional war in 2007 or because of what happened in 1967, but because he remembers the Ayatollah Khomeini was not based in Jerusalem, Mecca or Cairo when he overthrew the Shah of Iran in 1979, he was based in a Paris suburb.

Governments in the West and the private investment groups that control them never believed Khomeini's influence would reach beyond Central Asia. Disturbances there would enable Moscow to conduct more invasions south toward the Persian Gulf, through Iran, in order for inexpensive communist labor to control more raw materials. The inexpensive labor would reduce the cost of the resources exported to industry in the West. So now, the grand designers are worried to death over how they can save UNIFIL.
