Mobilisa Inc., a global leader in mobile and wireless technologies, announced today that Defense ID® will secure entry points for all six U.S. Mint facilities around the country. Defense ID®, the world's most advanced access control-force protection tool, is a ruggedized handheld scan gun that can read an ID card and run a bad guy check to over 100+ watch or terrorist lists... all in under a second.

Defense ID® protects dozens of military bases such Andrews AFB, home to Air Force One. This same technology will serve as a first line of defense for preventing unwanted persons access to the U.S. Mint locations in Denver, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Washington, DC, and West Point, as well as the U.S. Bullion Depository at Fort Knox, Kentucky.

"We are very proud to help increase security for the U.S. Mint facilities across the country," said Dr. Nelson Ludlow, CEO of Mobilisa. "Mobilisa works hard to deliver high-tech solutions to keep our critical installations and fellow citizens safe." Since 2004, the Defense ID® system has helped security personnel identify and prevent over 15,000 unauthorized individuals from gaining entry onto secure federal and military installations.

In 2004 hundreds of documents and digital photographs were found on al-Qaida laptops targeting key financial institutions. The primary mission of the U.S. Mint is to produce an adequate volume of circulating coinage for the nation to conduct its trade and commerce.

Since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 tours of the U.S. Mint in Denver and Philadelphia were suspended due to security concerns. As of 2007 any person entering the six facilities nationwide will have their identification scanned by Mobilisa's DEFENSE ID handheld, enhancing security.

In addition to producing coins, the U.S. Mint maintains physical custody and protection of the Nation's $100 billion of U.S. gold and silver assets and distributes U.S. coins to the Federal Reserve banks and branches.

Mobilisa is a global leader in mobile and wireless technology, delivering innovative solutions for the government, military and business.
