PWGSC/Update on Status of the Harry Hays Building: The Building Remains Closed to the Public and Employees

The health and safety of the public and employees using the Harry Hays Building is our top priority. The closure is necessary to facilitate necessary repairs, clean up work and air quality testing. Portions of the building sustained water damage created by a storm the evening of June 5th.

Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) and SNC-Lavallin ProFac continue to work with tenant departments and agencies to reopen the building as soon as possible. We have targeted Monday June 18th for the building to be fully operational.

Until that time, clients of federal departments and agencies are being directed to temporary locations. More information is provided in the Annex to the News Release.

We apologize for any inconvenience and disruption to services as a result of this closure.

Public Works and Government Services Canada will provide updates on the building closure on a regular basis.

ANNEX

Alternate Locations for Services Offered in the Harry Hays Building

Public Works and Government Services Canada apologizes for the disruption in service and inconvenience caused by the closure of the Harry Hays Building. We are working to have the building reopened and operational as soon as possible. Until that time, alternate arrangements have been made for you to access services of federal departments and agencies on a temporary basis.

Note that this information has been updated, and is indicated in bold.

- Clients of the Passport Office are asked to use the Passport Office at 14331 MacLeod Trail S.W. Hours of Operation 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Urgent passport Services may be obtained through the Edmonton Passport Office, Room 126, 9700 - Jasper Avenue, Hours of operation 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

- For clients of Service Canada programs and services, such as Employment Insurance, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, Social Insurance Numbers, Pleasure Craft Licenses, Apprenticeship Incentive Grant and Passport Receiving, Service Canada's other Calgary locations are open.

(i) Please note: A passport receiving agent is an enhancement of mail-in passport services. Participating Service Canada Centres will only accept standard passport applications. To find out if your application qualifies as standard, contact Service Canada.

- Clients of Citizenship and Immigration Canada can obtain information from the CIC Call Centre at 1-888-242-2100. The citizenship ceremonies scheduled for Thursday, June 14th at 10:00 a.m. and Friday, June 14 at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. will take place at the YWCA, 320-5th Avenue S.E.
