Exstrata Copper: CCR Refinery Management and Union Executive Ask for Conciliator to Assist With Renewal of Collective Agreement

MONTREAL-EAST, QUEBEC - (CCNMatthews - June 1, 2007) - The management and union executive of Xstrata Copper Canada's CCR Refinery in Montreal-East, Quebec, have agreed to request the assistance of a conciliator to help the parties come to an agreement.

The company and the union executive reached a tentative agreement on Wednesday, May 30th. The offer was subsequently rejected by the union membership by a 91% vote on Friday, June 1st. Both parties have agreed that operations will continue normally until and throughout the conciliation process.
