Swimmers Benefit This Summer From SeaKlear(R) PRS

As swimming pools, splash and water parks
across the country open this Memorial Day weekend, swimmers and
recreational facilities are haunted by serious outbreaks of various
recreational water illnesses last season. Cryptosporidium and E.Coli
caused severe illness among swimmers. Luckily for swimmers this season,
SeaKlear, makers of the SeaKlear brand of water treatment solutions for
pools and spas, received EPA approval for use of its SeaKlear PRS system as
a viable means of effectively trapping Cryptosporidium and other RWI
(recreational water illness) in the pool filters.
Cryptosporidium (Crypto) is the most harmful of these RWIs. It is a
parasitic cyst that is introduced to recreational water by means of human
fecal material. If ingested it causes severe gastroenteritis with symptoms
from nausea and fever to diarrhea. Most recreational water facilities still
rely on sand filtration which by itself cannot effectively trap Crypto
cysts because of the small micron size of the parasite. Normal chlorine
levels are also ineffective at eradicating Crypto, and even 12 hours of
hypo-chlorination at 30ppm have not conclusively proven to be successful at
destroying it. http://www.seaklear.com/seaklear_2.0/news.asp

SeaKlear PRS is a two-stage biopolymer system proven to enhance filtration
in pools, spas and hot tubs thereby reducing outbreak risk. Using a
patented technology, SeaKlear PRS traps particles as small as 0.5 microns,
including Cryptosporidium, Giardia, algae and E.coli.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and many other water experts have
long recommended enhanced filtration as part of an effective method in
reducing the risk of Crypto outbreaks. According to the CDC,
Cryptosporidium is the leading cause of Recreational Water Illness (RWI).
Studies conducted by Auburn University showed a 99.9% reduction of Crypto
using the SeaKlear PRS. Another independent study recently presented at the
2006 World Aquatic Health Conference confirmed 99.9% reduction of Crypto
with the SeaKlear PRS product.

"This is a monumental breakthrough that allows public recreational water
facilities to significantly improve water quality and reduce the risk of
Cryptosporidium infection," said Dr. Jeff Williams, chief technology
officer of HaloSource, Inc., parent company of SeaKlear.
"We are extremely pleased to receive EPA approval on our SeaKlear PRS
product for trapping Cryptosporidium," said Rick Lockett, general manager
of the SeaKlear division. "The EPA has a long, rigorous evaluation process
and with this approval SeaKlear PRS can now be used by aquatic facilities
to combat this insidious parasite that causes such harm to aquatic
facilities and their users."
SeaKlear PRS was recently voted "Top 25 Most Valuable Products for 2007" by
the professional pool operators who read Aquatics International magazine
and was also given the "Reader's Choice Top 50 Products for 2007" by the
readers of Pool & Spa News; both publications are trade publications for
the swimming pool and spa industry.
