  Share With Friends

With a cast of almost 70 VBHS students, director Dee "Rose" Homsher is a very busy lady these days as she coordinates the upcoming production of Disney's "High School Musical." The stage version is now being performed at hundreds of other high schools across the United States and, with permission from Music Theatre International, soon to be in Vero Beach on May 19th and May 20th at the VBHS Performing Arts Center.

The students are currently in rehearsals with Andrew Currie, choreographer, and Karen Wiggins, voice and band coach, to learn the steps and notes to each number that are sure to dazzle the audiences. The production will include a live, ten piece orchestra, and will feature members of the VBHS Drum Line, as well. Set design is by Shawn Webber and the show features songs "Start Of Something New," "Get'cha Head In The Game," "What I've Been Looking For," and "We're All In This Together."

The performances are part of a fundraising campaign by the 30 Drama students who are planning to visit New York and see several Broadway shows in June. The will have the opportunity to participate in theatre education workshops as well as enjoy "talkback" sessions with the cast members from those productions they attend.
