Marine Corps Marathon Offers Guaranteed Entries for May 8 Registration Rally

Registration Rally at Pentagon Row held on day prior to the start of online registration

What: Local runners are invited to join the Marine Corps Marathon for a mid-day break on May 8, the day prior to the opening of online registration, to be among the first to secure an entry into the 32nd MCM. 1,000 early entries and active duty discounts will be available at the MCM Registration Rally from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Pentagon Row in Arlington, VA. The Rally will feature live music, food and product sampling by Pentagon Row merchants, giveaways, and the debut of the 2007 MCM training apparel.

When: Tuesday, May 8, 2007, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Background: The MCM Registration Rally will offer entries to runners, 24 hours before online rolling registration opens on May 9! The 32nd MCM, to be held on October 28, is expected to fill quickly. Online registration begins May 9 at noon eastern on the MCM website, www.marinemarathon.com. Local runners seeking to avoid the online registration frenzy can sign up for the Marathon at the Registration Rally. Would-be marathoners must be present to register and entries will not be accepted after 1:00 p.m. Military members taking advantage of the active duty discount are asked to bring a photocopy of their military ID.

Merchants: Pentagon Row merchants participating in the event include: A Visual Affair, Arlington Visitors Center, Asia Bistro, Bally Total Fitness, Best Foot Forward Shoe Repair, Champps, Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salon and Spa, Gotta Run, Harris Teeter, Hudson Trail Outfitters, Jouvence Aveda, Knits Etc., Lebanese Taverna, Post Pentagon Row, Reveal MedSpa, More Space Place, Ristorante Murali, Saigon Saigon, Sine Irish Pub, Smoothie King, Solar Planet, Starbucks, Sur La Table, Sweet Surrender, Tapeo, Zen Bistro & Wine Bar.

Voted "Best Marathon for Families", the Marine Corps Marathon continues a combined tradition of dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism. Runners from all walks of life have participated in the world's largest marathon to not offer prize money, deservingly earning the nickname "The People's Marathon." The 32nd Marine Corps Marathon to be held on October 28, 2007 in Arlington, VA is presented by USAA, Brooks Sports, Inc., and Cisco Systems. Online rolling registration opens May 9 at noon eastern at www.marinemarathon.com.
