telent Moves To Warwick Business Park

30 April 2007 - telent plc (LSE: TLNT), a leading provider of technology services, today announced it is to take new offices at the Opus 40 Business Park in Warwick.  telent will relocate its operational headquarters from New Century Park Coventry to the new site.

Mark Plato, CEO of telent, said "This is a positive and exciting move for our company. telent has a rich history, but is also a new and dynamic company.  Our move from New Century Park, whilst a big step given the company's heritage with Marconi and GEC before that, is inevitable given the changing focus of our growing business.  The site was no longer suitable for the way telent has evolved and our new location will provide us with a cost-effective, environmentally efficient and flexible facility that is more appropriate to our way of working.  These new premises will underline the exciting and promising start we have all made as telent plc.  I am pleased that we are keeping our headquarters in the Coventry and Warwickshire region.  This is one of our key operational areas."

The Opus 40 site is adjacent to the A46 bypass and two minutes from Junction 15 of the M40.  telent has taken 'Point 3' - an existing, self-contained, three storey office building, which will be completely refurbished before the company begins its phased relocation in January 2008.   The 85,000 sq ft building has been taken on a 15 year lease.

Cllr Chris Saint, the Economy Portfolio Holder for Warwickshire County Council, has welcomed the proposed move:  "It is a morale booster for the local area, particularly in the light of the recent Ford Foundry announcement, but the key significance is that the company has ambitious growth plans which will benefit the wider Coventry and Warwickshire sub-region."

Notes to editors
Q. Why is telent moving?

New Century Park has a rich heritage for telent but it was designed for a company with different needs, and a different business model to our own.  It is a sprawling site, with many different buildings and would need significant modernization to meet our needs now, and in the future.  The other key considerations for us in choosing a new site were identifying one that had a more appropriate cost structure, one that would allow us to move as quickly as possible and one that would mean minimal disruption to employees.  The new site at Warwick, just 11 miles away, is more modern, cost-effective and appropriate for a business of our size and type.  These new premises will underline the new start we have all made as telent.

Q. Why Warwick?

We needed a facility that matches more closely the way telent is growing and evolving and we looked at a number of sites both within Coventry and on the outskirts of Coventry to try to find the most suitable and cost effective building.  The office building at Opus 40 will enable all our employees in this area to be located in one building; it will provide us with state of the art facilities and the opportunity to grow.  It will also prove more cost-effective than our current location and is more cost effective than any other site we looked at.  The location of the building, just off the M40 and within walking distance of Warwick Parkway Station, offers excellent transport links.

Q. Will the move result in head count reduction?

No.  telent is a growing company and there will be no job losses as a result of this relocation.

Q. Will the move create any jobs?

We are currently expanding our operations and have a number of vacancies, but we do not envisage the new facility increasing employee numbers, but it is too early to judge.

Q.  Is the Public Transport Service to and from the site reliable?

Warwick Parkway is within 5 minutes from the new site with regular connections from Birmingham and to London Marylebone. There are Public Transport connections from Coventry to Warwick and we will be considering other means of transport in order to support a smooth transition.

Q. How big is the site?

The net internal area is approximately 83,000 sq ft.

Q. Is it single occupancy?

The telent building will be single occupancy. The Business Park is currently made up of two other buildings which are occupied by IBM.

Q. Does the move have any impact on Chase Point?

No.  This only affects New Century Park.

Q. Will Ericsson remain on the NCP site?

That is a question for Ericsson, we are not aware of their plans.

Q. What are the timescales for the move?

The new office will be completely refurbished for us by November 2007.  We intend to begin a phased relocation after our own fit out works are complete.  The physical movement of operations should begin in late January 2008 with an anticipated completion date by mid  April 08.
