Recycle the Magical Dog & his Friends Editorial

  Share With Friends

Recycle the Magical Dog lives in a village called Greenlands, with his friends. Everyone in the village likes to look after the environment, apart from Wally Waste who can't see the point.

On the website, every character has their own page on the environment, with facts and information on the impact we are causing to our planet, plus how things can be recycled.

Accompanying each character will be a story of their adventure with Recycle. Currently available to purchase online are Tommy Tyre, Gloria Glass and Pam Paper, with other stories to appear every 2/3 months. Also on the website is a Poems and Hints & Tips section. Children can submit poems written on environmental issues. Hints & Tips on reducing, recycling and reusing can be submitted by people of all ages. The best will be chosen from both categories and placed on the website for the following month. A certificate (and small prize for children) will be awarded.

Over the past five years, my partner and I became more aware of the damage to the environment, through Green Organisations, TV and Radio. We considered that the only way forward for the environment is to educate children, who would in turn educate their parents and their future children, especially as we now have our first grandchild.

Having contacted many organisations, showed prototypes of our books and characters, the response has been fantastic. In the first 3 days of launching the website, we have had near on 500 hits, with positive comments coming back.

Myself, who finds reading and writing difficult, write the stories. Once a story has been written, I hand it over to my partner, Lynn, who translates it into proper English, whilst undertaking the illustration work for the books. The final stage of the story is to pass it over the fence to our neighbour for proof reading.

Later on in the year, we will be producing a hard copy of the stories on recycled paper and using environmentally friendly inks from a local Printer.

We are currently sourcing merchandise made from recycled materials, which will bear the Recycle magic logo.
