Coalition For National Unity Wishes Happy New Year to King Gyanendra of Nepal
His Majesty the King
Narayan Hiti Royal Palace
Kathmandu,
Nepal
Your Majesty;
We would like to express our heartfelt greetings and best wishes to you, Her Majesty the Queen and the entire royal family on this momentous occasion of the New Year 2064. We hope that the New Year brings solace to our Royal family and some semblance of peace to our beloved country so that we all can start living a normal life, again.
In the last eleven years, we experienced death, destruction and sorrow that have been unprecedented in our nation's history. As a consequence, it will take many generations to recover from the injuries inflicted on our people and the devastation wreaked upon our country. We have been the victims of a brutal and unjustifiable war.
Our cry for peace is justified but insufficient to deter a vile enemy that is so determined to destroy our institutions and our way of life. Our own history teaches us a hard lesson that peace is neither achieved easily nor maintained without costs. It requires from us resolute action and constant vigilance. What happed in our country should never happen again. We must take steps now to ensure that.
What bad men have done, good men must undo by redoubling their efforts and showing moral fortitude. This generation cannot fail in its responsibility and must meet its obligation to secure our country. It has a responsibility to hand down a better society to posterity than it inherited. We cannot falter, we cannot fail. And the work must begin in earnest now.
We have a country situated on one of the most beautiful spots on this planet. We are proud and God-fearing citizens of a forever independent country. We are also proud offspring of those brave and fearless forefathers who fought with the mightiest of forces and many battles to keep our country, to preserve our culture and our way of life. They were small in numbers, as always, very poor in resources and armaments but very rich in spirit. Now it is our turn. It is a tall order. But, that spirit must and will live on.
This is a time of renewal for Mother Nature after a harsh winter, giving new life to plants and animals alike. Our ancestors also chose spring season aptly an auspicious moment to start a new year to invigorate new hopes and enthusiasm in our people. We are at a very critical time in our history. Our entire existence has been challenged. We must face this threat with a deep sense of duty and high resolve. If we do that, peace will prevail and a new era will truly commence in Nepal. In jubilation, every Nepali will sing Jai Nepal again.
God bless our Royal Family
God bless us all
And God bless Nepal
Sincerely,
