Plink Invites Conscientious Cleaners to Select a New Scent and Shade for Distinctive Disposal Deodorizer
"Designer" Look and Fragrance to Debut in Early Autumn
Plink is already one of the most unique
kitchen products invented to put the finishing touches on even the most
stringent cleaning routines. But now the lemon and citrus orange gel caps
that rid disposals of lingering food particles, fats and unpleasant odors
will soon be joined by a brand new "designer" variety of Plink -- created
with consumer input.
As the Spring Cleaning Season kicks into full gear nationwide, Phelps
Industries LLC, the manufacturer of Plink, is inviting conscientious
cleaners to help choose Plink's next color and scent.
Those who know about Plink consider it an essential solution to foul
kitchen odors. Often the source is out of sight in the disposal, but the
stench emanates throughout the cooking and eating area. This can create an
uncomfortable situation and the sense that the kitchen isn't as sanitary as
it should be. That is, until you take Plink for a 15-second spin in your
disposal, replacing the unpleasant odors with a refreshing aroma.
"More and more people are creating new, designer kitchens with high-end
appliances, cabinetry and counters, as the kitchen has become the No. 1
room where families congregate," said Vin Foley, Phelps' President. "So we
figured that one of our home improvement products should also follow the
popular designer trend. But instead of hiring a noted designer to create
our new Plink, we wanted to tap the preferences of consumers nationwide to
help create the new 'addition' to their kitchens."
Foley expects to receive several different suggestions, based largely on
the trendiest colors and scents seen in everything from candles to
potpourri to fabric softener.
"We hope to receive a number of recommendations ranging from Soothing
Lavender and Vanilla Bean to Cinnamon Apple or even something more exotic
like Basil Lime," said Foley. "We're open to considering a wide range of
attractive shades and scents."
Consumers can use pickyourplink@shehasit.com to e-mail their suggestions
from now until June 15. The first person who submits what turns out to be
the winning choice will receive a gift certificate for $500 worth of
housecleaning by the Merry Maids or a similar company.
The new Plink variety should be available online at www.shehasit.com and in
supermarkets and specialty housewares retailers in September.
Current Plink varieties include: 10-Pack Lemon, 10-Pack Citrus Orange, and
the new 20-Pack featuring both Lemon and Citrus Orange gel caps. The
10-Pack sells for about $3.99. The 20-Pack is offered for $6.99.
Beyond Plink, Phelps Industries also produces another popular and unique
cleaning product, Glisten, which freshens, cleans and deodorizes
dishwashers, dishes, tubs, toilets, bathroom sinks and more.
