LogLogic Certified With NetApp(R) Compliance Software
Certified Solutions Help Customers Make Log Data Immutable and Satisfy Compliance Mandates

LogLogic's enterprise Log
Management and Intelligence (LMI) platform is now certified and offers full
integration with Network Appliance(TM) (NASDAQ: NTAP) storage and
compliance solutions to help customers simplify the management of immutable
log data for compliance, operations, forensics, and litigation. New
compliance mandates such as PCI (Payment Card Industry), European Union
Data Retention Directive, HIPAA (Healthcare Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act), along with IT controls such as NIST (National
Institute of Standards and Technology) and COBIT® (Control Objectives for
Information and Related Technology) require companies to retain log data
securely for periods often exceeding one year. LogLogic certification with
NetApp compliance solutions means that customers can more effectively meet
compliance mandates that require log files from any source to be immutable
for as long as required, using predefined policies.
Enterprises generate terabytes of log data every year with some estimates
indicating that log data accounts for upwards of 25% of all Enterprise
data. Often stored in departmental silos and without attention to data
integrity or security, compliance mandates and operating pressures -- such
as frequent audits and increasing demands for user activity monitoring --
require that Enterprises take a horizontal approach to log data. This
mandates collecting all log data all of the time, storing this log data in
immutable form, and making it widely available to address the many use
cases and user demands in the Enterprise.
LogLogic's award-winning family of log management appliances have been
certified with NetApp SnapLock® to keep stored compliance data
unalterable for appropriate retention periods that are based on corporate
policies and relevant regulations. IT Operators and security professionals
can now easily and cost-effectively manage the complete Log Lifecycle(TM)
spanning collection of log data from any source, search, storage (including
write once read many better known as WORM storage), reporting, alerting and
sharing of log data with complete chain of custody.
"The principle of WORM storage is critical for compliance and forensics,"
said Dominique Levin, vice president, Product Management, LogLogic. "Log
data is in hot demand across the enterprise -- whether that's from the
datacenter for forensics or from the HR department for auditing. Helping
customers make their logs immutable is critical to attesting to the quality
of reporting and data. In addition, log data -- especially from homegrown
applications -- contains highly sensitive information and is a fingerprint of
user and application activity. Securing this data and having a record of
what we call the 'chain of custody' is critical for meeting compliance."
"Customers are collecting more and more log data as part of standard IT
practice to support security and compliance policies. The ability to derive
intelligence from terabytes of log data in seconds is critical to
protecting information assets and achieving regulatory compliance," said
Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions Marketing at NetApp. "Log data
is one of the largest sources of data and critical parts of good governance
in the enterprise. NetApp, together with LogLogic is pioneering
enterprise-class approaches to securing and deriving value from it."
Customers trust LogLogic to collect, manage, and store their log data. Log
management and intelligence has rapidly emerged as baseline requirements
for Internet and communications service providers, financial services,
retail, government and healthcare who must comply with exacting regulations
and IT controls.
"We're working with our customers to address their business objectives by
reducing risk, assuring continuous compliance with regulations, and
protecting critical consumer, employee and partner information," continued
Levin. "Enterprises are turning to LogLogic to leverage our expanded Log
Management and Intelligence platform, and our commitment to bring SnapLock
solutions to market will enable us to deliver log data with the promise of
'write once and securely, read many times.'"
