Ahmed Hassan Shares His Green Thumb Secrets on "The Dirt On…" Premiering April 7 at 8am ET

The snow and ice might have melted away, but what's left for many is a not-so-gorgeous yard! DIY Network is springing into the new season with two original series, Desperate Landscapes hosted by Jason Cameron and The Dirt On… hosted by Ahmed Hassan, premiering April 5 and April 7, respectively. These two professional landscapers will demonstrate just how easy it is to turn a yard from basic or bad to beautiful!

Premiering Thursday, April 5 at 10pm ET, Desperate Landscape follows Jason Cameron and his team of experts to homes nominated by their very own neighbors for having the worst front yards on the block! A little peer pressure goes a long way when you've got a dull and Desperate Landscape! Jason shows viewers what it takes to dramatically change a yard…in just one day! From new planting beds, to fresh paint, to fencing and big new trees, the neighbors can't believe the transformations! Series will air regularly on Thursday nights at 10 pm ET and weekends at noon ET.

Premiering Saturday, April 7 at 8am ET, The Dirt On... is geared to do-it-yourselfers with or without a green thumb. Fueled by e-mails, phone calls and video messages from DIY Network viewers, this program answers the most vexing and perplexing questions about gardening and landscaping projects. The show is hosted by professional landscaper Ahmed Hassan, with special guests frequently stopping by to share their secrets. Topics addressed on this half-hour series include tips on lawn repair; how to build a water or moss garden; gardening with your kids; budget landscaping; how to find the perfect lawn mower; pruning mistakes; simple pathways and sprinkler issues. Series will air regularly on weekend mornings at 8am ET.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Jason Cameron is experienced in carpentry and home remodeling, as well as being an outdoorsman and sportsman. He is a familiar face to home improvement fans, as he's been lead carpenter on the series, While You Were Out. Jason brings his extensive knowledge of carpentry and landscaping to two new DIY Network series, Desperate Landscapes and Man Caves (premieres June 16).

Jason worked his way through college as a carpenter while attending Northern Michigan University. He is also certified as a personal trainer, specializing in strength and conditioning. In 1999, Jason moved to New York to pursue an acting career, but shortly returned to carpentry and general contracting to utilize his skills. He has also worked as a fitness model and spokesman for Men's Health Magazine, and has appeared on the pages of Maxim, GQ, and Muscle Media. His television experience also includes roles on Sex & the City, Guiding Light and All My Children. In his spare time, Jason enjoys working out at the gym, playing volleyball and basketball, and of course, doing carpentry projects. He currently resides with his wife Mary Ann in New Jersey.

Ahmed Hassan's growing ambition to be involved in gardening began at a very young age. Raised by his father, a landscape gardener, on an alfalfa farm in Winters, California, Ahmed learned early on how to master a mower and turn turf into art. Over the past 17 years, his interest in everything outdoors has led him to become one of the San Francisco Bay Area's most sought-after young landscape designers. Along with supervising a landscaping and gardening team for the City of Redwood City, California, Ahmed currently owns his own landscape design, installation and maintenance company. When asked what his favorite thing to do in the garden is, he simply says "everything!"

Ahmed is a natural teacher and has an extensive background in educating other landscapers and gardeners on large public projects, as well as smaller residential and community projects. Ahmed has a solid educational background, mastering courses in ornamental horticulture, irrigation, soil science and pruning and landscaping with native plants. He says his goal in life is "to learn, to create, to beautify, and then teach others to do the same!" On television, Ahmed has been a popular expert contributor on several episodes of HGTV's Landscape Smart series. Ahmed is the father of three and lives with his wife Tiffanie in Northern California.
