Pentadyne Flywheel Wins EC&M Magazine's 2007 Product of the Year Award in Power Conditioning Category

EC&M magazine (www.ecmweb.com) has named the
Pentadyne VSS+DC flywheel system -- manufactured by Pentadyne Power
Corporation (www.pentadyne.com), the world's leading commercial
manufacturer of clean energy storage systems using advanced composite
flywheel technology -- as the Power Conditioning Equipment category winner
in its 2007 Product of the Year competition.
EC&M magazine is a technical trade magazine written for 140,000 electrical
professionals, including more than 84,500 subscribers in electrical
contracting firms encompassing all members of the National Electrical
Contractors Association, the Independent Electrical Contractors
organization and Engineering News Record's top 50 contracting firms.
Through a mix of in-depth technical articles, market and construction
forecasts, and comprehensive product reviews, EC&M is one of the nation's
leading publications addressing the estimated $75 billion electrical
market.

Now in its seventh year, the EC&M Product of the Year competition was
established to honor excellence in new product development for the
electrical industry and recognize inventive products that allow electrical
design professionals and others to accomplish their goals more efficiently
and effectively. Later this month, readers of EC&M will begin voting online
for a single product of the year among the winners of each category.
The Pentadyne flywheel clean energy system is used to supplement or replace
lead-acid battery arrays used with uninterruptible power supply (UPS)
systems ranging from 50 kVA to several thousand kVA. Chemical battery
plants require extensive, costly and lengthy permitting, testing and
monitoring due to corrosive materials, fire dangers, hazardous fluids and
explosive gas emissions. These issues are eliminated when a Pentadyne
VSS+DC flywheel is used instead of lead-acid batteries.
Batteries are commonly acknowledged as the weakest reliability link in a
UPS system, demanding frequent and costly maintenance and replacement. The
Pentadyne flywheel system is a more reliable method of energy storage that
is far less costly to operate than a 5-minute string of valve-regulated
lead-acid batteries.
Speaking, exhibiting at upcoming trade shows
Frank DeLattre, Pentadyne Senior Vice President of Sales & Service, will be
presenting tomorrow at 11 a.m. as part of a panel on emergency response
systems and planning at the Building Automation trade show
(www.bnpevents.com/ES/BAC) in Baltimore. At the AFCOM Data Center World
Conference (www.datacenterworld.com) in Las Vegas March 27 and 28, Emerson
Network Power will be displaying the Pentadyne VSS+ DC, which they market
as the Liebert FS, in their exhibit booth # 401.
