Hillary Clinton Donor Money: Two Multi-Million Dollar RICO Suits Filed Against International Profit Associates By Group Of Plaintiffs
CHICAGO (EWORLDWIRE) Mar 15, 2007
Hillary Clinton along with several other influential politicians have failed to return campaign donations that appear to be directly connected to an alleged scam which defrauded small to medium sized businesses across the United States and Canada of millions of dollars over more than ten years. In the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois-Eastern Division, the law firm of Reda & Des Jardins, LTD on Tuesday filed a multi-million dollar RICO lawsuit (Case No. 07C 1425) against one of Hillary Clinton's top campaign donors, International Profit Associates (IPA).
This is the second multi-million dollar lawsuit filed in less than two weeks against Buffalo Grove, Illinois-based IPA. Another similar filing took place on February 26, in Albany, New York.
Nearly 20 plaintiffs - all small businesses which are former clients of IPA, have directed the suit at those identified as members of IPA's Board of Directors (see list below) and several members of the company's executive staff.
A New York Times front page article on May 7, 2006 reported Clinton received over $145,000 in campaign donations from those closely affiliated with IPA. Since the article, most politicians that received donations from IPA have since returned the money back to IPA; the plaintiff's believes Clinton is an exception.
Over 200 lawsuits filed by business owners across the country claiming breach of contract and fraud have named IPA's founder and current Managing Director, John R. Burgess, and his company. This latest case allege that since 1995, IPA has been involved in legal action alleging acts of fraud, conspiracy, and numerous violations of the RICO act.
Attorney General Offices in Illinois and Wisconsin have investigated IPA for failing to pay wages due to current and former employees and for deceptive and unfair businesses practices, respectively.
Claims of deceptive marketing practices and acts of fraud have been made by IPA customers, along with an EEOC lawsuit alleging sexual harassment by 113 female ex-employees.
Plaintiffs claim to have huge amounts of incriminating evidence - including documents official IPA training manuals, copies of original IPA intra-office e-mails, and letters from other industry organizations - reflecting the plaintiff's belief that the intent of IPA is to defraud customers by using highly questionable and illegal tactics to coerce clients into signing up for consulting services, running between $12,500 and $350,000.
Named in the suit are:
- John R. Burgess - Founder and Managing Director (Disbarred attorney and felon - while practicing law in New York, Burgess was found guilty of Grand Larceny in the first and second degrees for defrauding clients. The Superior Court for the State of New York declared that Burgess was a danger to society and therefore disbarred him. The State of Illinois followed in line and disbarred Burgess as well.)
- Gregg M. Steinberg - President of IPA - Involved with IPA for more than 10 years
- Kenneth E. Sweet, Esq. - Alledgely heavily involved in several highly questionable securities Choice Securities, and Reliance Worldwide Investments.
- Larry L Lang - Director of IPA Advisory & Intermediary Services
