A new author who served in Iraq is to speak at the Gathering Of Eagles pro-troops rally near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC on March 17th, 2007.

The rally marks the fourth anniversary of Operation Iraqi Freedom and culminates the cross-country pro-troops caravan led by Move America Forward. The book, which will debut at the rally, presents the first book with an action plan for the American people to help our troops win.

“Americans want to contribute to victory but wonder how,” said Major Eric Egland, author of The Troops Need You, America: Six Ways to Help Them Win From Your Living Room. Egland says there is now a plan of action that comes directly from the troops themselves. This plan empowers every American to support the troops working to achieve victory in Iraq.”

“Until today, many Americans believed their support was limited to prayers, care packages and bumper stickers,” explains Egland. “Now soldiers on the ground are inviting citizens to do far more from home. The plan distills the grass-roots wisdom of hundreds of expert Americans, from proven combat innovators to citizen activists.”

Leading voices have already endorsed The Troops Need You, America. “This plan is tailor-made for Americans who want to help the troops succeed, but aren’t sure how,” said Edwin Meese III, a principal member of the Iraq Study Group and former US Attorney General. Major General (Retired) Paul Vallely added, “The US must change to win, but bureaucracy favors the status quo. This book shows how to make a difference.”

Major Eric Egland (Reserve) has served in Iraq, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. His experience includes working to defeat terrorism, narcotics trafficking and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

Major Eric Egland holds a Master of Science degree in Strategic Intelligence from the National Defense Intelligence College and he graduated from the US Air Force Academy. He recently contributed to Blog of War (Simon & Schuster, September 2006). Eric has been featured on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News Radio to discuss national security.
