Boomer Women Get a Voice On The Web
What started as a 50-year-old woman'sweekly newspaper column on her amusing misadventures in midlife has now transformed into a unique new website for female baby boomers : www.BoomerGirl.com
BoomerGirl director and columnist, Cathy Hamilton, says the new
site offers a wealth of information, news and fun for a group
that is THE driving consumer force in this country. "The
reaction to the column told me there was a need for something
like this on the Internet," she says, "women over 40 just aren't
seeing themselves in today's media."
On BoomerGirl.com, readers can find health information, travel
destinations for girlfriend getaways, book reviews, financial
planning advice and more. The daily Spanish lesson, Espanol con
Ramon, features a sexy young instructor, complete with audio.
Women are encouraged to get involved by submitting editorials
and memorials, forming online clubs, commenting on stories and
blogging.
Hamilton says there are 41 million women in the United States
between the ages of 40 and 60, many of whom are at the peak of
their earning power. With women making 80% of the household
buying decisions in this country, Hamilton says, why wouldn't
anyone sit up, take notice and find out what these power
consumers want?
"Women in this age bracket are busy. They don't have a lot of
time to sit and surf the Internet," Hamilton said. "Our goal is
to makeBoomerGirl.com the one-stop shop for the relevant content
our readers really want and need."
