Fuego Entertainment Announces the World Release of the Much Anticipated Cuban Music CD "Algo Ritmo" by Fuego Entertainment Music International (FEMI)
Fuego Entertainment, Inc. (OTCBB: FUGO) announces
the world release of the much anticipated Cuban Music CD, "Algo Ritmo."
This album is a new acquisition from its affiliate Ciocan Entertainment and
will be the first official release under the new label Fuego Entertainment
Music International (FEMI).
"Algo Ritmo" is the second album derived from the Club Musical Oriente
Cubano project and is a tribute to legendary figures of Cuban music, such
as Pérez Prado, Beny Moré, Armando Oréfiche, Orlando De La Rosa, Compay
Segundo, Miguel Matamoros, Roberto Torres, Ignacio Piñeiro, Celia Cruz,
Sexteto Nacional, La Sonora Matancera, Guillermo Portabales, Manuel
"Puntillita" Licea, Julio Cueva, Ñico Saquito, Reynaldo Hierrezuelo a.k.a.
Rey Caney, Joseíto Fernández, Abelardo Barroso, a tribute that mainly
privileges lesser known gems of these greats, in a wide range of genres,
and whose listening results are fresh and stimulating.
The 2002 first album, "Caña, tabaco y Ron (Sugarcane, Tobacco and Rum),"
received enthusiastic reviews. "All the hallmarks of Cuban music are played
to perfection on this excellent recording," said John Bush from All Music
Guide. "The producers of this project gave themselves the ambitious
objective to give a response to Buena Vista Social Club, the result exceeds
by a length that of its famous predecessor Essential," said Didier Ferrand,
from Caribe Folk. "On this new gem of release each track is an intoxicating
trip into a simpler, enriching existence. A wonderful dance record, highly
recommended," said Bruce Polin, from Descarga.com. "It must be noted when a
project like this comes along, we are the ones being enriched, beautiful
release!" said Keva Dames, SalsaPower.com.
The Club Musical Oriente Cubano project (Eastern Cuba's Music Club) is
meant to be a reply project from the East of Cuba (The province of Oriente)
to the West (Havana) based Buena Vista Social Club, a reply in the spirit
of the "contestaciones (replies)" in vogue in Cuba in the 1930s, when the
lyrics of Sindo Garay's and Manuel Corona's teams' songs replied to each
other, a spirit, therefore, of emulation rather than of imitation.
"Algo Ritmo" is even more intriguing than the previous release as this CD
continues to dig deep into the roots of Afro-Cuban music and beyond. Its
tracklist includes a cuban flavored Mexican boleros, a Spanish pop song
turned into a son (a "pop-son") and the inedited bolero-son-cumbia penned
by Club's member Cheo Losada.
Paolo Franco, who conceived this project back in the year 2000, and is also
one of the Club's singers, said in the recent interview: "There are a few
things that should be pointed out to the general public, although Buena
Vista Social Club is based in Havana, some of its main figures like Compay
Segundo, Ibrahim Ferrer, Eliades Ochoa, all came from the East of the
island. The son, that, with all its variations and derivations, can be
identified with the so called Cuban traditional music or Afro-Cuban music,
was born in the East of the island; it traveled West at the beginning of
the past century carried to Havana by the Army. It provided the framework
for new rhythms like Mambo and Cha Cha Cha, for the Afro-Cuban Jazz and
eventually transformed itself in new and sophisticated rhythms such as
Salsa and Timba . But, as these larger formats and sophisticated
arrangements gave this music a wider range of nuances, they also made it
lose something of its original, enchanting straightforwardness."
The beauty of Cuban traditional music resides in the willingness of its
performers to maintain their well rooted culture, simply put, the music
groups from the East are the true ambassadors of Cuban Music.
"Algo Ritmo" will have worldwide distribution and will be available in all
music stores as of April 9th, 2008
