Jolie and Pitt to Adopt A Dynamic Vietnamese Boy

Hanoi, Vietnam (rushprnews) – A Vietnamese adoption agency reports that actress Angelina Jolie and husband Brad Pitt are adopting a boy between the age of three and four years old. Jolie and Pitt are very happy about this.

Angelina and her three children, son Maddox and daughters Zahara and Shiloh Nouvel flew into Ho Chi Minh City in South Vietnam on Wednesday night. They came in from Japan on a chartered plane.

Tam Binh Orphanage

The child, who has been living since infancy at the Tam Binh orphanage on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City, was chosen during their recent visit by the celebrities and humanitarians but the planning started last fall.

According to Vu Duc Long, the head of the justice ministry’s international adoption department in Hanoi, the adoption will be completed within three months and the boy should be moving to the U.S. within that time.

People at the orphanage said the boy is more dynamic than many of the other children, but he is shy with new people. Jolie and Pitt were together at the time they chose him but Angeline adopted him due to the need to comply with Vietnamese law.

Adoptions of Vietnamese children can often take much longer, with an average of around six months. This is a much faster adoption than in some other countries.

Jolie and Pitt Shortcut

Normally an adoption takes four months and up, but Vu stated “since the papers had been filed months ago, it will take three months top.” Jolie and Pitt visited the orphanage this past Thanksgiving and are believed to have chosen the boy at that time.

The Boy’s Name

Vietnamese government officials later confirmed that the orphan boy’s new name is Pax Thien Jolie, and he is three and a half years old.

According to Nguyen Van Trung, the orphanage director, the boy was abandoned at birth at a local hospital in 2003.

At the Tam Binh orphanage, Angelina wrote a beautiful farewell message in the visitors’ book. She wrote, “Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my son. I am sure he will miss your beautiful, caring staff as much as you will miss him.”

Goodwill Ambassador

As the United Nations’ Goodwill ambassador since 2001, Jolie has brought world attention to the suffering of refugees and children’s victimization. She was awarded in 2003 with the first Citizen of the World Award from the UN Correspondents’ Association.

Jolie and Pitt have one daughter together named Shiloh born in May, and two others adopted by Jolie prior to her marriage to Pitt. Pitt has since adopted them as his own.
