by Valerie Perkin

Senior Brian Walsh was selected to participate in the heptathlon at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, the NCAA selection committee announced March 5. This will be the second straight season that Walsh advanced to the national meet.

Walsh set a NCAA provisional qualifying score after totaling an Academy record score of 5531 at the recent Mountain West Conference Championships. That total is currently ranked 13th in the nation. He is one of two Mountain West Conference multi-event athletes that will compete at the national meet, joining Colorado State's Kevin Johnson.

Action begins March 9 at the Randal Tyson Indoor Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark.
