LeMond Bikes Introduces Their Lightest Carbon Road Bike, Tete De Course, at 2007 Tour of California

Three-time Tour De France Champion Greg LeMond
and LeMond Bikes introduced the lightest LeMond race bike ever, the Tete De
Course, at the 2007 Tour of California. The atmosphere of the 2007 Tour of
California served as a perfect backdrop for this epic introduction.
Editors from all major U.S. cycling media outlets testrode the bike on some
of the same terrain the pro riders pedaled this past week.
On the eve of the tour's prologue in San Francisco, LeMond Bikes hosted a
public showing of the 1989 Tour de France. During the screening, legendary
cycling commentator Phil Liggett and Greg LeMond provided stories and
insight from the classic race. After a lively Q&A session with the
audience, the new LeMond Tete De Course was wheeled onstage for its public
unveiling.

The 2008 model is an extension of the popular LeMond Carbon Triomphe
platform. The Tete De Course builds on the Min-Max Design Theory which
minimizes frame weight while maximizing efficiency and performance.
With the Tete De Course, LeMond has created an 850-gram frame for serious
roadies. This is the first time a LeMond bike has gone sub-900 grams. To
create the lightest, most efficient bike possible, LeMond aggressively
shaped the carbon tubes minimizing surface area where possible, and also
introduced high modulus carbon throughout the frame. The end result is a
built-bike weight of 15.1 pounds on a 55cm bike without pedals.
The Tete De Course also brings some other firsts to LeMond. This bike is
the first LeMond to feature carbon dropouts which shows its commitment to
creating the ultimate, no-compromises bike for racers. It's also the first
LeMond to use SRAM's Force group. The exceptionally lightweight component
group features the crisp performance demanded by racers. Also showing up
for the first time on a LeMond bike are Bontrager Aeolus wheels. The
carbon Bontrager Aeolus 5.0 wheel system is the same wheel used by pro
cycling teams such as the Discovery Channel, Toyota-United, and Kelly
Benefits/Medifast.
The Tete De Course will be in stores June 2007, however, pre-orders can
begin immediately. The advertised retail price of the bike is $6,699.99.
