Night Watch: LJUBLJANA - Iran Ambassador to Slovenia, Mohsen Nabavi has met Slovenia Foreign Minister Dimtrij Rupel in which they compared their respective governments mutual opposition to the continued occupation of Slovenia and the former Yugoslavia by NATO/United Nations/European Union/OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe). It is also to Tehran's advantage that Ljubljana is currently the Chair of the 35 member Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is based in Vienna. Tehran intends to use the new war in the Balkans over Kosovo to silence Vienna. Ljubljana is in complete accord with Tehran on every issue concerning relations between them and the European theatre. Adding to Tehran's influence in Ljubljana's decision making is the economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the energy industry. The wars in the former Yugoslavia have revived Southeast Europe's opposition to Western Europe. Earlier this month Bucharest held a large celebration on the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran led by the Ayatollah Khomeini when he came back from Paris in February of 1979.
