San Diego's Imperial Beach Bans Feeding Sea Gulls and Pigeons

Imperial Beach is the first and only beach city in San Diego Country where retired people can no longer sit on a park bench and feed the pigeons, without going to jail over $100 fines for doing so.

City officials have not said how much time they will grant violators to pay such fines.

They have determined the city's cost of removing bird droppings to average 13 hours per week by one employee.
