Pentagon Force Protection Agency Selects CoreStreet's PIVMAN System for HSPD 12 Compliant Security
PIVMAN System to Provide CAC-Based Access Control at Numerous Leased DoD Facilities

CoreStreet, a leader in software for smart
credential and convergence programs, announced today that the Pentagon
Force Protection Agency has purchased, and is deploying, the PIVMAN(TM)
System to control access at leased Department of Defense (DoD) buildings
and facilities in the National Capital Region.
The Pentagon Force Protection Agency will use the PIVMAN System to check
the status of Federal Information Processing Standard 201 (FIPS 201)
compliant smart credentials and DoD Common Access Cards (CAC) for all
individuals wishing to gain admittance to numerous DoD leased facilities in
the region. FIPS 201 is a standard created in response to Homeland Security
Directive 12 (HSPD 12), which lays out the need for a single, interoperable
credential for all federal government employees and contractors.
"Everyday, more and more government employees are joining the millions who
already have HSPD-12 compliant credentials," said Chris Broderick, CEO of
CoreStreet. "With the PIVMAN System, the Pentagon Force Protection Agency
has a solution that is fully interoperable with all new government smart
credentials. So, they can check any CAC, FRAC, or any of the other FIPS-201
cards, anywhere, anytime. The PIVMAN System was designed for this
purpose. We are very pleased to have been selected."
CoreStreet's PIVMAN System consists of software for handheld devices and
backend servers, which is designed to provide high assurance credential and
privilege checking. The system leverages the FIPS 201 IT infrastructure,
allowing it to provide accurate status information about any of the
millions of compliant credentials currently in use, without requiring any
network connectivity. The PIVMAN System can also be configured to collect
and display privilege and attribute information, such as roles,
certifications and training levels.
Arriving individuals simply insert their credential and enter a personal
identification number (PIN). The PIVMAN System then checks the information
against data on the card and on the device. After performing the check, the
device displays the credential holder's status and any relevant privileges
or attributes.
The Pentagon Force Protection Agency was created in the wake of the
September 11th attacks to provide law enforcement and force protection for
the Pentagon and other DoD buildings and facilities within the National
Capital Region.
