Boston Software Systems Expands Install Base by 27 Percent in 2006
Award-Winning Hospitals Maintain High Demand for Leading Workflow Automation and Integration Solution
Boston Software Systems(TM), the leader in
workflow automation technology to the healthcare market, exceeded its sales
expectations with the addition of 350 hospitals and more than 40 new
partners. This caps a year of widespread success, expansion and praise for
Boston Software Systems and its flagship product, Boston WorkStation(TM).
The company also expanded the Boston WorkStation product line, hired new
staff and maintained a high profile at industry and partner trade shows.
In the past year, Boston Software Systems added more than 100 new hospital
sites including leading providers: HCA Information Technology & Services,
Valley Health, VA, Gaston Memorial Hospital, NC, Alverno Information
Services, IN, and St. Luke's Hospital, PA. These additions move the total
install base to more than 1,500 provider facilities.
Leading application vendors in the healthcare sector increasingly rely on
Boston Software Systems to provide the automation and integration piece for
their solutions. Business with these partners increased dramatically with
the addition of more than 40 new application vendor partners. Close partner
alliances are now responsible for more than 750 installations of Boston
WorkStation throughout the world. Demonstrating success with solutions that
use Boston WorkStation, the partner business showed an 83 percent increase
in successful implementations. Among the newest partners actively using
Boston Software Systems in their solutions are: Perot Systems, CareMedic
Systems, LabCorp, Misys, Global Healthcare Exchange, McKesson Automation
and McKesson Laboratory Services.
In Q4 '06, the company launched Off Script, an executive blog that
discusses issues around healthcare IT in Massachusetts and nationwide.

Seventeen of the hospitals listed on Leapfrog's 2006 list of the top 50
acute care hospitals and top nine children's hospitals are using Boston
WorkStation to help increase cost efficiency and improve patient safety.
The list reflects those facilities which best meet Leapfrog's quality
standards. These criteria include measures for computerized physician order
entry (CPOE), ICU physician staffing, evidence-based hospital referral and
27 other safe practices factors.
New Products
Next month, Boston Software Systems will be unveiling Boston WorkStation
v9.0, which will offer a completely unique centralized dashboard to provide
a simpler way to manage, change or analyze the performance of all scripts
running throughout a hospital. In addition the dashboard can provide a high
level strategic view of the efficiency of processes throughout the
enterprise.
In Q3 '06, the company launched UNISON(TM), a stand-alone dictionary
synchronization product designed for MEDITECH hospital information systems
(HIS). Built on the proven Boston WorkStation scripting technology, UNISON
allows IT staff to completely automate the tedious job of updating any
departmental data dictionaries.
Corporate Expansion
To accommodate widespread growth and demand, Boston Software Systems tapped
additional technology development staff. These appointments reflect the
company's momentum and commitment to ongoing product development and
customer service. Boston Software increased its employee base by 20 percent
from January 2006 and expects employee growth to continue in 2007.
