Night Watch: ARAGAM VILLAGE - Islamic militants now seem to be concentrating more of their attacks on Indian military and police units. KONS reports in an overnight gunbattle three Indian soliders, including a Junior Commissioned Officer, Sant Raj Singh were killed in Aragam village, adjacent to the town Tral in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir Friday. Hundreds of residents took to the streets afterward and protested what they believed to be the cold blooded murder of a civilian by Indian soldiers as he was leaving Friday prayers. [

During so much of last year militants seemed to spend most of their time throwing grenades at civilians and centers of tourism in an attempt to cripple the lucrative tourist industry in the picturesque valley. That of course did nothing to increase their public support. But with so many arrests of Muslim civilians by Indian security, who are not involved in the attacks, the residents in this Muslim majority province are quick to accuse Indian troops after any incident.
