Think Energy Eliminates Greenhouse Gas Emissions While Doubling Revenues
TAKOMA PARK, Md. (EWORLDWIRE) Feb 6, 2007
Contrary to concerns that imposing limits on carbon dioxide emissions will stifle the economy and threaten growth, Think Energy, a renewable energy consulting firm headquartered in Takoma Park, Md., is one of many U.S. businesses that has proven reduction of business-related emissions can be accomplished while achieving double-digit growth. This year marks the fourth consecutive year Think Energy has offset all of its business-related emissions, to thrive as a zero carbon-emissions business. By purchasing over 50 megawatt-hours of renewable energy, Think Energy has offset carbon emissions from basic company operations, employee commuting, and business trips, totalling more than 72,000 pounds of carbon dioxide - emissions that would take twenty-seven acres of trees one year to absorb.
While simultaneously more than doubling its gross income, the company has purchased Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) from thirteen different vendors nationwide. Most of the renewable power Think Energy purchased comes from wind farms; the rest is provided by solar power and hydro power.
Working with large energy customers including Toyota, Alcoa and the Los Angeles Unified School District, Think Energy helps the organizations purchase renewable energy for their facilities through a streamlined, efficient approach. By helping clients identify and evaluate clean energy options, Think Energy helps its clients to make sound decisions and effective purchases.
"Purchasing clean energy with RECs is an action that any business can take," said Mark Crowdis, CEO and founder of Think Energy. "Every business needs to take a proactive stance to combat global warming. Our goal is to inspinre other companies to take action."
"Think Energy is a leader in helping to bring renewable energy to businesses and universities around the country," said Matt Petersen of Global Green, USA. "Think Energy has educated companies and organizations nationwide about renewable energy - that it is both cost-effective and environmentally responsible. Think Energy has stepped beyond the expected - to take action, rather than focus solely on its client roster. The company's actions are commendable and worthy of recognition."
Think Energy purchased RECs from thirteen vendors:
- 3 Phases Energy Services
- Bonneville Environmental Foundation
- Carbonfund.org
- Climate Save
- Community Energy
- Maine Interfaith Power and Light
- Native Energy
- Renewable Ventures
- Renewable Choice Energy
- TerraPass, Inc.
- Waverly Power and Light
- WindCurrent
- Zephyr Energy
