Big Budget Films
Because I Said So (PG-13 for sexuality, partial nudity and mature themes) Diane Keaton stars in this dysfunctional family comedy as a meddling mother intent on finding Mr. Right for the youngest of her three daughters (Mandy Moore). With Piper Perabo, Lauren Graham, Gabriel Macht and Sophina Brown.
The Messengers (PG-13 for mature themes, terror, and disturbing violence) A sci-fi horror flick, about a family divided by the suspicious, paranormal phenomena occurring on their sunflower farm. Cast includes Dylan McDermott, Kristen Stewart, John Corbett and Penelope Ann Miller.
Independent & Foreign Films
An Unreasonable Man (Unrated) Expansive bio-pic examines the career of crusading consumer activist Ralph Nader from his emergence as an obscure public interest lawyer to his controversial presidential campaign as a third party candidate which some say cost the Democrats the 2000 presidential election. With appearances by Pat Buchanan, Howard Zinn, John Conyers, Phil Donahue, Carl Mayer, Mark Green, and many others.
Constellation (PG-13 for sexual references and brief profanity) Jungle Fever is the theme of this maudlin melodrama revolving around a recently-deceased black woman's (Gabrielle Union) undying love for a white soldier David Clennon), and her estranged brother's (Billy Dee Williams) being forced to deal with his ex-wife (Lesley Ann Warren) and their two daughters (Zoe Saldana and Melissa De Sousa) at the funeral. With Hill Harper, Rae Dawn Chong, Ever Carradine and Clarence Williams III.
East of Havana (Unrated) Cuban concert flick features a trio of ghetto-based, anti-Castro gangsta' rappers who refer to themselves as "El Cartel." (In Spanish with subtitles)
Factory Girl (Unrated) Sienna Miller handles the title role in this Sixties bio-pic which chronicles the tragic trajectory of Andy Warhol protege Edie Sedgwick, debutante-turned-Radcliffe dropout-turned-blonde of the moment whose future was consumed by an overindulgence in a decadent lifestyle of sex, drugs and alcohol.
Puccini for Beginners (Unrated) Screwball bi-sexual sitcom, set in New York City, about an afraid-to-commit lesbian (Elizabeth Reiser), left by her lover (Julianne Nicholson) for a man, who opts to try a relationship with a philosophy professor (Justin Kirk) only to end up in an incestuous love triangle with him and his investment banker girlfriend (Gretchen Mol).
Raising Flagg (PG-13 for brief drug use) Alan Arkin and Austin Pendleton co-star in this "Keeping up with the Joneses" comedy as a couple of next-door neighbors who have been competing with each other forever. Cast includes Lauren Holly, Glenne Headly, Matthew Arkin and Richard Kind.
The Situation (Unrated) The War in Iraq serves as a backdrop for this love triangle involving a CIA Agent (Damian Lewis), an American journalist (Connie Nielsen) and an Arab photographer (Nasser Memarzia).
