Hollywood Producers Buying Reality TV Show Ideas Via The Television Writers' Vault

Former Merv Griffin development executive, Scott Manville (35), has launched The Television Writers' Vault (www.tvwritersvault.com), and Hollywood's top production companies are making this Web "idea-bank" their go-to source for new reality TV show ideas.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (EWORLDWIRE) Jan 8, 2007

Both aspiring and professional writers are finally being given a platform of exposure for their ideas and scripts that both protects and promotes them. "Producers love the access to new ideas, and the writers love selling concepts direct," says Manville. Adding, "Under the protective guidelines of our service, both sides are finding the TV Writers' Vault an unprecedented source for new talent and making new industry contacts."

Writers may submit a synopsis of a reality TV idea or concept in any genre of TV, while carefully screened executives are scouting the site's database for new projects to produce. The writer is then able to monitor a submission via a "project status report" that gives live status of any project being reviewed by member producers.

While agents are good at building the careers of established writers, new writers are now being given the same access via the TV Writers' Vault, and many have already found success. Jon Stewart of Deerfield, Ill. was scouted by a head executive at Fox TV Studios using the TV Writers' Vault and eventually made the sale of his reality TV concept to that executive. Soon after, Tim Center of Alabama found dozens of producers reviewing his projects archived and has since sold three projects to one producer.

In addition to the lucky few that beat the odds to make a sale, hundreds of writers are making new contact with executives they can now pitch directly, and thousands of official reviews of projects have been made by Hollywood execs. Adds Manville, "We even had the wife of a rock star developing concepts and submitting them through our service. We ended up putting her in touch with one of the producers we know, and they now have a deal."

Writers will also find at the site professional how-to information on the creation and development of reality TV show ideas, and the marketing of projects to the television industry. There are currently over 75 leading production companies using the service to search for that next big hit, and this includes HBO, TBS, Speed Channel, Fox TV Studios and others.

Manville boasts, "I believe in the power of idea, and The TV Writers' Vault is bridging the gap between the creators and buyers of new material for the television industry." Manville has also recently launched the Creators Vault, an electronic archival system providing writers proof-of-creation before marketing.

As Hollywood expands functioning in all forms of multi-media, Manville sees his company as a leader in Hollywoodas new M.O.
