Nepali Protest Rally
The Nepali American community in the United States is organizing a demonstration opposite the United Nations Secretariat, New York City.
Date: January 11, 2007, Thursday
Place: Ralph Bunche Park, First Avenue (between 42nd and 43rd Street),
Time: From 12 to 3:30 p.m.
The protest rally is to submit petitions, raise voices, so that the United Nations Security Council, foreign governments and the International community understand the true feelings of the Nepali people.
We Nepalese living in the United States voice our protest against the undemocratic, government in Nepal. We demand immediate dismissal of the present government and be replaced by an independent, neutral government that will conduct free and fair election within three months.
We also demand an exclusion of the Maoists in our government. The crimes that the Maoists have committed against the nation and the people of Nepal exclude them.
We demand that the Maoists immediately surrender their arms now. We demand that the Maoists renounce all forms of violence and submit an apology seeking pardon from the people of Nepal for all the crimes committed, for all the killings, rape, kidnappings, and torture.
We are in favor of constitutional monarchy and multi- party democracy. We demand that Nepal continues to be a sovereign, independent Hindu nation.
