Healthy Truckers: Long Haul Trucking Tackles Hypertension Management Via Lifeclinic Advanced Health Screening Kiosks
ROCKVILLE, Md. (EWORLDWIRE) Jan 3, 2007
Long haul trucking employees will now to be able to take advantage of advanced health screening technology that has been available for many years at worksites and medical clinics for use by employees and patients, and in pharmacies for use by customers. Phil Claxton, President, of Lifeclinic International "> today announced that the Lifeclinic Health Kiosks will be used with the Healthy Trucker Info and Ramp Media's new super truck stop health media program ">.
In discussing the program, Claxton said, "We are pleased to have our health kiosks in 100 Pilot, Petro, AMBEST and independent trucking centers. Blood pressure monitoring is important to everyone, and for long haul trucking professionals, it is a critical part of their employment that they control their blood pressure in accordance with U.S. Department of Transportation regulations." ">
"HTI and Ramp Media will bring many years of experience with their Health Kiosk sponsorships. Their media experience will permit our Lifeclinic Health Kiosks to be used freely by long haul trucking professionals as they visit one of the busy super trucking centers where the kiosks are installed," Claxton stated. "This will give the over-the-road driver a health screening home. With drivers recording their blood pressure measurements at one of the many Healthy Trucker Info Stations, these drivers will have important health information to share with their health care provider during their regular medical checkups. We look forward to working with Healthy Trucker Info and Ramp Media over the next three years as they seek out new service opportunities to help in combating the growing national hypertension problem." Claxton added, "Lifeclinic has chosen Ramp Media and Healthy Trucker Info to be our advertising sponsors in these trucking super centers, and we are looking forward to their enthusiasm and experience as they develop this important health service market."
Current National Institutes of Health blood pressure guidelines consider a blood pressure reading of 120/80 mmHg or less as a normal blood pressure level. ">
"High blood pressure can be controlled, and regular screenings with the Lifeclinic Health Kiosks can help to keep long haul drivers on a healthy life style program," reports Lee Burdine, president of BHS, Inc. BHS is the deep south authorized distributor of the Lifeclinic Kiosks which has worked closely with HTI to develop this program for the major HTI Healthy Trucker Info stations in truck super centers. "The Lifeclinic Health Kiosks are in over 20,000 major retail pharmacies throughout the U.S., providing millions of screenings each year. We can now screen and serve the long haul trucking industry with this innovative program." Burdine added, "The latest NIH studies show that at least one in four of the adult US population suffers from some type of hypertensive problem, with the trend growing steadily. Wellness and intervention are one of the key components to a productive, safe and profitable professional truck driving career."
